The Lighthouse Mentoring Center, established in April 2000, is a non-profit residential youth home serving boys and girls between the ages of six and nineteen who, because of life circumstance have not been able to live in other settings. Their backgrounds are varied, but all have suffered some form of abandonment, trauma, neglect or abuse. The mission at the Lighthouse Mentoring Center is to provide a stable, structured, loving home in a positive environment where each child can maximize his or her potential.
Our purpose is to accomplish each youth's therapeutic goals using the "Nurtured Heart Approach", which is a culturally sensitive, trauma informed treatment modality. Our vision is to provide support designed to help our youth achieve their dreams, which may include reunifying with family, transitioning to a lower level of care or independent living. Education is our primary emphasis. Our staff is engaged in close interaction with school officials and our youth to assure a solid foundation for the youth’s future and their chosen careers. Our goal is to increase opportunities for their success with informed after care planning designed to bridge the gap to emancipation.
